Levitate balconies at the Marshgate project in London
Balco UK has supplied and installed 125 Levitate balconies for the Marshgate project on City Mill Road in London, together with 229 balustrade sections covering approximately 655 linear metres.
Located approximately a two-minute walk from Pudding Mill Lane station, the development is also just one stop from Stratford Station, providing residents with convenient access to Westfield Stratford City and excellent transport connections across London.
125 Levitate balconies in London
The Marshgate project features 125 balconies using Balco’s Levitate balcony system.
Levitate is a modular balcony system developed for safe, accurate and efficient installation. Its design allows the balconies to be fitted onto previously installed support arms and locked securely into position, helping the installation process progress efficiently on site.
At Marshgate, careful planning and strong project management were central to coordinating the balcony installation with the wider construction programme.
Careful planning and close collaboration on site
As with many major construction projects in London, several trades were working on site at the same time. This made close coordination between Balco UK, the project team and other contractors particularly important.
Available storage space for balcony components was limited, so deliveries, material handling and installation were carefully planned to ensure that the right materials were available at the right time.
Good communication between the teams on site, combined with effective project management, helped the balcony installation progress safely and efficiently. The support and cooperation of the other contractors and project partners also played an important role in maintaining a well-coordinated installation programme.
The result was a smooth lifting and installation process, with the balconies installed safely and professionally alongside the other ongoing works.
More than 650 metres of balustrade
Balco UK’s scope at Marshgate extended beyond the balconies themselves.
The team also supplied and installed 229 balustrade sections, representing approximately 655 linear metres of balustrade across the development.
Supplying both the Levitate balconies and balustrades enabled Balco UK to provide a coordinated balcony and balustrade solution as part of the wider façade package.
From planning to installation
The Marshgate project demonstrates the value of careful preparation and close cooperation when delivering balcony solutions in a busy London construction environment.
By coordinating deliveries, material handling and installation with the wider project programme, Balco UK and the other teams on site were able to make effective use of the available space and maintain steady progress throughout the works.
