Balco delivers Levitate® balcony systems for major regeneration project in Cardiff
Balco Balcony Systems Ltd is currently delivering its balcony package for Phase 1 of the Channel View Regeneration, one of Cardiff Council’s largest estate renewal projects.
Located in Grangetown, Cardiff, the Channel View Regeneration is transforming the existing estate into a modern, low-carbon neighbourhood with new homes, improved public spaces, enhanced pedestrian and cycle routes, and better connections to Cardiff Bay and the surrounding communities.
350–400 modern, low-carbon homes
The wider scheme is being delivered by Wates Residential in partnership with Cardiff Council. The existing estate, which includes around 180 homes, is being replaced with up to 350–400 modern, low-carbon homes designed to support a more sustainable and connected community.
Phase 1 is the first and most visible stage of the regeneration. It focuses on replacing the existing high-rise tower block with specialist accommodation for older residents, delivered across two new residential blocks.
Balco’s contribution includes the design, manufacture and installation of Levitate® balconies, together with extensive balcony balustrading for private terraces, in-situ balconies and roof terrace areas.
Balco’s scope of works
Block A is a 15-storey building providing 102 new apartments. Balco’s scope includes:
– 53 Levitate® balconies
– Over 100 linear metres of balustrading to reinforced concrete in-situ balconies
Block B is a 6-storey building providing 24 Independent Living flats for older residents. Balco’s scope includes:
– 12 Levitate® balconies
– 8 specially designed Levitate® balconies for recessed locations within the building envelope
– Over 80 linear metres of balustrading to ground-floor private terraces, reinforced concrete in-situ balconies and the roof terrace
In total, Balco is installing 65 Levitate® balconies and more than 180 linear metres of balustrading for the project.
Levitate® is Balco’s adaptable balcony system, developed to combine quality, accuracy, speed and safe installation. Its modular construction makes it well suited to new build developments, while its adjustability supports project-specific requirements, including recessed balcony locations.
For residents, the new balconies and outdoor amenity spaces will help create attractive, usable areas that bring extra value to the homes and support a better everyday living environment.
