Night-time lifts and teamwork – how Balco kept the Lightbody Street project on track.

At Balco, flexibility is key – especially when space is tight and timing is critical. On the Lightbody Street project in Liverpool, our team had to think differently when it came to balcony installation. With no space to operate a crane during the day, Balco UK worked closely with Liverpool City Council to coordinate night-time lifts.

“Closing the road at night allowed us to bring in our crane and lift fully assembled balconies directly into place,” explains Francis Whelan, Senior Project Manager at Balco UK. “It’s a great example of how we collaborate and adapt to ensure the job gets done – safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption.”

The result? A smooth installation process with 20 balconies successfully installed in one night. In total, the project includes 129 Levitate balconies, 131 aluminium Juliet balconies, and 11 linear metres of front-mounted aluminium balustrade.
