Balco´s project with PMC Construction at Clarendon Place

Balco executed a project at Clarendon Place in Portslade, Brighton, involving the design, manufacturing, and installation of 53 custom Levitate open balcony systems.

Clarendon Place is located in Portslade, Brighton. For this project, Balco designed, manufactured, and installed 53 bespoke Balco Levitate Open Balcony Systems over two apartment blocks, in partnership with PMC Construction. 2

Design imperatives

All 53 of these Balco Balconies were identical in design, featuring vertical bars, steel balustrades, concrete floor tiles, and front-falling aluminum soffit panels that allow excess water to drain out of the balconies, preventing flooding. Each balcony stack is slightly offset on every f loor; this was an architectural preference and a specific design feature requested to give an aesthetically pleasing finish.

Client requirements

Due to Balco’s Bespoke Levitate system, the Levitate Balconies were installed quickly and efficiently, despite the site being small and therefore restricting the number of balconies that could be held and constructed there at one time.

Site restrictions

There was also a significant restriction regarding storage, as there was none on-site, meaning that all balconies had to be manufactured and assembled on the site floor, then installed immediately.
